This is an old utilitarian basket of southern California.
The process of winnowing was a common practice in southern California. The process consisted of vigorously shaking or whirling seeds in the basket to separate seeds from their chaff or outer coverings.
Excellent condition, finely woven, simple but pretty design.
Measures 15 1/4" in diameter, 2" deep.
