Raven group fetish by Destry Siutza, jet
Zuni raven fetish, depicting three ravens on tree branches, by Zuni artist Destry Siutza. Native American Made. Made of carved jet, with inlay turquoise eyes. It measures 1 3/4" tall, 2 1/8" wide and 1" deep. Signed on the bottom. Very delicate and skillful carving, with the ravens in a cute pose hugging with their wings. It could be a gift representing a couple, or a parent and child.
Bird fetishes were thought to carry prayers to the sky asking for rain and blessings. Ravens represent magic, they are the messengers of the great mystery, and they are tricksters but without the negative characteristics.
