Zuni quail fetish, by Native American artist Enrike Leekya. It measures 2 3/4" tall, 1" by 1 1/2" wide at the base. Native American made. It is made from Picasso marble, with inlay turquoise eyes, beak, and crest. Signed on the bottom. The artist Enrike Leekya is a descendant of the famous Zuni carver Leekya Deyuse.
Quails are said to be family oriented, and any kind of bird fetish is considered a messenger to heaven, carrying prayers, and asking for rain and blessings.
