Zuni fetish carving of a turtle, made of turquoise in host stone, with inlay jet eyes, and raised inlay jet and red coral on the shell. Native American Made. It is 2 1/4" long, 3/8" tall, and 1 5/8" wide. This fetish was handmade by Zuni artist Georgia Quam and is signed on the bottom. This is a unique piece of stone, with bits of turquoise that naturally formed inside a host stone, which the artist used to her advantage in making this turtle.
Turtles represent longevity, fertility, home, and reliability. They are symbols of Mother Earth, and they are rain bringers.
