Zuni lion fetish, by artist Enrike Leekya, made of Picasso marble with inlay turquoise eyes and nose. It is 2 1/4" tall, 2 1/2" long, and 1 1/8" wide. Artist's signature is on the bottom.
Lions like this are not native to New Mexico, so they were not a traditional fetish carving animal, but exotic animals like this are often carved to showcase the Zuni carvers' ingenuity and skill.
