Tonala, Mexico folk art pottery cat, ca 1970s. The cat is decorated with flowers, birds, and a Mexican person with a basket and cactus. Very fine brush strokes.
Mexican Tonalá pottery is made in the city of Tonalá, Jalisco, a location renowned for the fine quality of its clay. Unsigned. The pottery vases and decorative items are well known for their earthy blue, red, green and black color schemes and intricate designs.
