Zuni Bighorn sheep/ram fetish, hand-carved and signed by Zuni artist Wilfred Cheama. It is made of serpentine with inlay turquoise eyes. Signed on the bottom. The ram is climbing down a rock cliff. With all the detail in the fur and the pose, you feel it will move right in front of you. The pose demonstrates the carver's skill.
Bighorn sheep are a game animal to the Zuni, and these fetishes are carved to help in hunting these animals for food and clothing.
