Yaqui Indian wooden mask, depicting a Quail, Which is very different from the traditional ones, ca 1990s. Hand-painted in acrylic and hand-carved from cottonwood, with horsehair. Has the traditional Yaqui triangle painted border around edges of mask.
Signed on the back. Handmade by Yaqui artist Esteban Gonzalez.
The Yaqui tribe is an Native American group that live in Northern Mexico and Southern Arizona.
Measurements: 4 1/2" deep, 4 1/2" tall, mask is about 9 1/2" wide, total length with hair it is about 16".
