Yaqui Indian wooden mask depicting a clown, ca 1990s, hand-painted in acrylic and hand-carved from cottonwood, with horsehair accents. Has the traditional Yaqui triangle painted border around edges of mask.
Signed on the back. Handmade by Yaqui artist Julian Gonzalez.
The Yaqui tribe is an Native American group that live in Northern Mexico and Southern Arizona.
Measurements: 8 1/2" wide, 5 1/4" deep, mask is about 4" tall, total length with hair it is 30".
