Zuni Raccoon fetish, hand-carved out of picasso marble with inlay jet and turquoise eyes. Has mother of pearl ear and nose accents. Tail stripes are inlay jet. Raccoon is standing and holds a piece of abalone shell. Native American made. It is by Zuni artist Enrike Leekya, and it is signed on the bottom.
Raccoons are not used in Zuni religious ceremonies, but they are one of the animals from around the world that Zuni fetish carvers make, to showcase their creativity, ingenuity, and skill.
