Zuni owl fetish, depicting a family group of owls huddling together, by Zuni artist Destry Siutza. Native American Made. Made of carved white marble, with inlay turquoise eyes. Signed on the bottom. Very delicate and skillful carving. One owl is holding a mouse.
Bird fetishes were thought to carry prayers to the sky asking for rain and blessings. Owls represent wisdom and patience, they are the guardians of the night, and they have the ability to see what others can't.
