Hand carved Seri ironwood eagle. Carved by Alejandro Diaz ( ), ca. December 1980.
Ironwood carving is a unique form of art from the Sonoran Desert of Southern Arizona and Northern Mexico. It was hand carved from desert Ironwood, a very dense and heavy wood. Original tag on bottom from Richard Rosenthal bought it from the artist in 1980's.
