Yaqui wooden mask, ca 1990s, hand-painted in acrylic and hand-carved from cottonwood, depicting a goat or ram, with horsehair. Has the traditional Yaqui triangle painted border around edges of the mask and has tongue sticking out of the goats mouth.
Signed on the back. Handmade by Yaqui artist Julian Gonzalez.
The Yaqui tribe is an Native American group that live in Northern Mexico and Southern Arizona.
Measurements: 5 1/2" wide, 4 1/2" deep, mask is about 7 3/4" tall, total length with hair it is 18".
