Yaqui wooden clown dance mask, ca 1990s, hand-painted in acrylic and hand-carved from cottonwood, depicting a brightly painted clown with pink nose, with horsehair.
Clowns where don't often made. They would see them when the circus came to town.
Signed on the back. Handmade by Yaqui artist Esteban Gonzalez.
The Yaqui tribe is an Native American group that live in Northern Mexico and Southern Arizona.
Measurements: 5 1/2" wide, 4" deep, mask is about 8 1/2" tall, total length with hair is 23".
