Zuni bat totem fetish, depicting three flying bats, by Zuni artist Lewis Malie. Made of carved shed antler. Native American made. Signed on the bottom. Very delicate and skillful carving, with three bats in flying poses. The totem pole idea is the first we have seen from this artist. Very delicate and beautiful.
To the Zuni, bats represent the guardians of the night, they are pollinators, and they can see what others can't.
