Zuni flying eagle fetish, by Zuni artist Ruben Najera. Native American Made. Eagle is carved from abalone shell. Signed on the bottom. Very delicate and skillful carving. Very beautiful.
Bird fetishes were thought to carry prayers to the sky asking for rain and blessings. Ravens represent magic, they are the messengers of the great mystery, and they are tricksters but without the negative characteristics. To the Zuni, hummingbirds are messengers, pollinators, have the ability to stop time, and represent grace and beauty.
Measurements: 2 1/2" tall, 2" wide and about 1 1/2" deep.
