Tohono O'Odham telephone wire basket, 1960s
Tohono O'Odham basket made from recycled telephone wire in the 1960s. The phone lines went in at Sells, Arizona in the 1950s and 60s, and the Tohono O'Odham weavers would gather up the scrap wires and make baskets out of them. This one is a nice large size for finding scrap on the ground.
Beautiful colors and size.
Measures 9 1/2" wide, 3 1/2" tall.
