Zuni Buffalo fetish, hand-carved and signed by Zuni artist Wilfred Cheama. It is made of picasso marble with inlay turquoise eyes. Signed on the bottom. This tiny buffalo is unusual for Wilfred because he normally carves larger pieces. The detail of the animal in this defensive pose shows Wilfred's skill in carving fetishes.
Buffalo are considered to be the providers of all, and represent endurance to overcome, and emotional courage.
