Navajo-made hand-stamped silver box with handle, 1930s. We think that, on account of the handle, this was meant to be a "silent butler," to catch crumbs swept off the table.
The box measures 1 3/4" long, 1 1/2" wide, and 5/8" tall, with a 1 1/4" long handle. It closes securely, the hinges work very well, and the stamping is beautiful.
These were made to sell for the Victorian people coming out west on train to experience the Native American people and the beauty of the west.
