Clip-On enamel earrings by Margot de Taxco, from Taxco, Mexico, 1940s
Clip-on earrings from Taxco, Mexico, silver with white and blue enamel, from the studio of Margot de Taxco. It has a stylized art nouveau style design that looks like ribbons or waves, very elegant and well made. The earrings measure 1 3/8" long, 3/4" wide. Very pretty earrings, and it is hard to find clip-ons that are this well made.
Margot de Taxco was born Margot Van Voorhies in San Francisco. In the late 1930s, she traveled to Mexico, married a man named Don Antonio Castillo, and they went into business together making jewelry in Taxco, designed by Margot. After their divorce in 1948 she began to work under the name Margot de Taxco, which is where these pieces came from.
