Navajo concho belt with turquoise by Hostein Goodluck, 1940s
Navajo concho belt, by artist Hostein Goodluck, ca. 1940's. The leather of the belt is 34 1/2" long, and 3/4" wide. The buckle is 3" by 2 5/8", hand-stamped with star designs and bump-outs, with four pieces of turquoise, one on each corner. There are six scalloped oval conchos, each 3" by 2 1/4", and six butterfly conchos in between, which measure 2 1/4" by 1". Each concho has a turquoise in the center. All conchos and butterflies are backed with leather. It is a lot of turquoise and a lot of silver, for the price, and beautiful workmanship. The leather is original and could be changed for a new piece and could be made longer.
