Butterfly-Corn maiden by Chad Quandelacy
Corn maiden/butterfly fetish by Zuni artist Chad Quandelacy, fabulously carved turquoise on a blue lapis stand and inlayed with a wide variety of stones including coral, spiny oyster shell, gaspeite, mother of pearl, jet and turquoise. With the jet dragonflies and that wonderful butterfly. It is reversible, so it can be displayed facing either way. The detail on this fetish is unique and the choices of stones is quite something for Chad.
The Corn Maiden helps to bring a healthy corn crop (abundance), which is an important source of food to the Zuni.
Measurements: It measures 3 1/8" tall, 2" and 1" deep.
