Zuni frog and dragonfly fetish carving, made from different stones, measuring 2 1/4" wide, 1 1/4" deep, and 1" tall, by Zuni artist Daisy Nastacio. This fetish depicts Zuni animals that symbolize water. The bottom frog is made of sodalite, the smaller frog on top is turquoise, the dragonfly is made of pink shell, and all have inlay silver eyes. Signed on the bottom.
Frogs and dragonflies are both symbols of rain, which is very important to the Zuni, as it is the source of all life on earth. Frogs are also associated with abundance, water, and fertility.
