Zuni frog and dragonfly fetish carving, made from different stones, by Zuni artist Daisy Leonard Natewa. This fetish depicts Zuni animals that symbolize water. The bottom frog is made of picasso marble, the dragonfly is made of abalone shell, and all have inlay silver eyes. They are bound together by a medicine bundle with turquoise, shell and coral beads.
Frogs and dragonflies are both symbols of rain, which is very important to the Zuni, as it is the source of all life on earth. Frogs are also associated with abundance, water, and fertility.
