Zuni Butterfly Maiden fetish by Zuni artist Claudia Peina, made of carved shed antler, with turquoise, coral and jet inlay. The wings are made from silver, stamped and cut to look like wings. Signed on the bottom. This fetish is beautifully carved, characteristic of Claudia Peina's style, and with a beautiful inlay design. She is wearing a turquoise necklace and has beautiful inlay designs representing her dress and sash.
The Butterfly Maiden is a pollinator which helps to bring a healthy corn crop (abundance), which is an important source of food to the Zuni.
Measurements: It measures 3" tall, 2 1/4" wide including wings, and 1" deep.
