Native American Zuni fetish carving of a buffalo, made of of a greenish serpentine stone with turquoise horns and eyes. It has a inlay design of a sun face with turquoise dots on back side. On the front side, cut shell and inlay mixed stones to make up a design. It is 4 5/8" wide, 2 1/2" tall, and 1 1/2" deep. This fetish was handmade by Zuni artists Lynn and Jayne Quam, and it is signed on the bottom "L & J Q".
Buffalo are considered to be the providers of all, and represent endurance to overcome, and emotional courage.
