Double sided corn maiden by Vicky Quandelacy
Corn maiden fetish by Zuni artist Vicky Quandelacy, made of carved picasso marble, with turquoise, spiny oyster shell, lapis, mother of pearl and jet inlay, on a Picasso marble base. It is reversible, so it can be displayed facing either way. Each side depicts a Zuni Corn Maiden, with corn and dragonfly designs. Beautifully carved, with intricate details, especially on the maidens' clothing and her beautiful necklaces on each side, this would be a showpiece of any Zuni fetish collection.
The Corn Maiden helps to bring a healthy corn crop (abundance), which is an important source of food to the Zuni.
Measurements: It measures 2 1/4" wide, 1 1/4" deep at base, and 5 1/2" tall.
