Zuni parrot fetish, depicting an parrot on a tree branch, by Zuni artist Michael Coble. Native American Made. Made of carved green serpentine. It is 2 3/4" tall, and about 1 1/4" deep by 1 3/4" wide. Signed on the bottom. Very delicate and skillful carving.
Bird fetishes were thought to carry prayers to the sky asking for rain and blessings. Parrots were prized for their beautiful feathers and their ability to live with humans.
