Zuni frog fetish by Ricky Laahty, made of serpentine. It is 1 1/4" tall, and 1 1/4" by 1 5/8" wide at the base. It depicts a frog parent with a tadpole on its head. This fetish was handmade by Zuni artist Ricky Laahty, who is known for his frogs. The bottom is signed, and also has a fish or dolphin design carved on the bottom, which Ricky Laahty has been doing recently.
Frogs represent fertility and abundance, and they bring the rain, which is important to all life on earth. Fish are also associated with water and rain, and dolphins represent loyalty and friendship.
