Kewa Pueblo inlay shell bird or eagle fetish
Kewa Pueblo figurine, possibly a bird or eagle, made of clam shell with inlay turquoise, coral, and jet eyes. Has a hole drilled below the "beak," so at one point it was used as a pendant. The shell has been carved and sanded very smooth, and a lot of care was put into it. While it is not a true Zuni fetish, it seems to have served a similar purpose for the Kewa people. It is a older piece probably around the 1970's.
Measures 4 1/2" long, 4" wide, and 2" tall
