Norman Yeckley mural panel "Mission in the Desert"
"Mission in the Desert" mural panel by Norman Yeckley (1914-1994), born in Douglas, Arizona, lived in Arizona and California. Oil on masonite, depicting a Southwestern landscape with a village and a mission.
In 1928 , he settled with his family in Glendale, Calif. He studied at the Otis art Institute League of Los Angeles. In the 1930's he began painting desert landscapes and by the 1940's had gallery representation in Phoenix, Los Angeles, and Palm Desert. A New York art company reproduced a number of his oil paintings and sold them nationally.
He remained a resident of Southern California and was active in the Glendale and Laguna Beach art association.
A beautiful piece with great detail. Like looking out a window.
