Raccoon fetish by Fabian Tsethlikai
Raccoon fetish by Zuni artist Fabian Tsethlikai, made of black marble, with incised markings, and inlay turquoise eyes. It measures 2 1/8" long, 3/4" wide, and 3/4" tall. The artist's initials are carved on the bottom of one paw. Raccoons are not used in Zuni religious traditions, but the artists like to carve all different animals as a challenge, and as an example of the carvers' ingenuity, skill, and adaptability.
