Bird fetish by Donavan Laiwakete
Native American Zuni fetish carving of a bird, made of white marble, with turquoise inlay eyes and jet inlay on the wings. It is 2 1/4" long, 3/4" tall, and 3/4" wide. This fetish was handmade by Zuni artist Donavan Laiwakete, and it is signed on the bottom. Bird fetishes were thought to carry prayers to the sky asking for rain and blessings.
