Horse fetish with inlay by Emery Boone
Native American Zuni fetish carving of a horse, made of black jet, with turquoise inlay eyes, a coral and turquoise inlay heart line on one side, and an inlay rain cloud on the other side with turquoise, coral, and mother of pearl. It is 2 3/4" long, 2 1/2" tall, and about 5/8" wide. This fetish was handmade by Zuni artist Emery Boone, and is signed on the bottom of the hooves. Horses represent strength, enlightenment, speed, and are thought to possess healing powers. The rain cloud is a sacred symbol to the Zuni, and the heart line gives the fetish medicinal powers and connects us to the spirit of the animal.
